Larijani made the remarks in his meeting with Hadiya Khalaf Abbas, Speaker of the People's Council of Syria, on the sidelines of 6th International Conference on Palestine Intifada underway in Tehran on Wednesday.
“I congratulate Syria on military achievements in fight against terrorists; these victories are result of resistance by Syrian nation and government,” Larijani said.
Noting that Syria has been one of the pioneers of fight against Zionism and supporting Palestine underlined that Syria’s independent stances is one of the causes of rise of conflict and terrorism in the Arab country.
Hadiya Khalaf Abbas, for her part, expressed Syrian President Bashar Assad, her nation and Syrian government’s gratitude to Islamic Republic of Iran for unwavering support.
“The conference on Palestine’s Intifada in such a critical condition is a turning point in the history, reminding Islamic countries of the Palestinian issue and its importance,” Abbas told the meeting.
She continued “no doubt, Syria’s support for Palestine has been a major cause of terrorists’ attack to our country; yet Syria would not change its position.”
“Achievements made by Syian army and government in battlefield against terrorists turned the military approach into political process,” she reaffirmed.
Abbas also urged expansion of parliamentary ties between Iran and Syria.
